Judo player Sushila Devi qualifies for Tokyo Olympics! Federation awaiting official confirmation

According to the website of the International Judo Federation, “The information released is provisional and only the names of judokas who would have qualified for the Olympics were given today.” Continental quotas are given based on the ranking of judo players in the region. Asia has 10 quota places.

According to the website, ‘This list is likely to change significantly by June 28, 2021, which is the last date for securing Olympic qualification marks.’ Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju congratulated Sushila on her achievement. Rijiju tweeted, “I congratulate Judoka Sushila Devi on qualifying for Tokyo 2020 through continental quota in women’s 48kg category. Our players are trying their best to make India proud.’ The Judo Federation of India, however, said it would wait for the final list.

Final decision will be taken on June 28

The federation’s source said, “It (the list of International Judo Federation) may change and the final list will be ready only on June 28.” . Maybe we will know after the World Championships is over on June 13.

“There is no Olympic qualifying event after the current World Championships. India will get only one quota, which will be between Sushila Likmabam (Women’s Under 48kg) and Jasleen (Men’s Under 66kg). Only one National Olympic Committee player from each region is entitled to qualify through the continental quota.
